Dear Dad

by | Dec 18, 2022 | 4 comments

Father, I don’t have the same way with words as my mother. I am not capable of expressing myself well, but even if I could, I would not be able to describe how much the loss of you pains me. Tell me how to write with a broken heart.

Our journey through life is not a straight line, but a series of peaks and valleys. Our time together ended at a peak and, looking backwards in time, it is clear to me that despite all our struggles, we managed to stand united and together.

The words that you used so often, “circumstances alter cases”, taught me to be mindful of others’ struggles, but most of all you taught me one of the greatest lessons in life, and for this I quote Epictetus: “Wealth consists not in having great possessions, but in having few wants” You lived your life surrounded by the simple pleasures of friendship and family. They will miss you dearly.

You always welcomed all my friends in your home and made them feel as part of the family. We will miss your quirky quotes and the way you always came up with a nickname for absolutely everyone….Ok maybe not Broken pistons, Slap tette and Blinne kind :-).

Even in my tears I smile thinking of the good times. Dear dad don’t forget to ask the angels to record your socks and to phone the milk. If you are a good friend of mine then you will understand this and laugh with me.

Thank you for giving me my passion for food, thank you!

So, you are also not sleeping. I am up listening to Chevaliers de Sangreal as you suggested and I am crying with you. I love you my son 💞

You do have your mothers way with words. A lovely heartwarming testimony of your life with your Dad. So sorry for your loss. Your family is in my prayers.
