1. Who We Are

Chef Louis Nel (Pty) Ltd (“Chef Louis Nel“) … Our “Site”, includes our main website (www.cheflouisnel.co.za), and any other media platform, mobile website or mobile application related or connected to www.cheflouisnel.co.za or owned and operated by Chef Louis Nel.

2. What Personal Data We Collect

We only collect information about you if we have a reason to do so–for example, to provide our services, to communicate with you, or to give you the best experience on our Site. We collect information in three ways: 1) if and when you provide information to us, 2) automatically through operating our Site, and 3) from outside sources. Let’s go over the information that we collect.

Information You Provide to Us

It’s probably no surprise that we collect information that you provide to us. The amount and type of information depend on the context and how we use the information. Here are some examples:

• Basic User Account Information: We ask for basic information from you in order to set up your user account on our Site. For example, we require individuals who sign up for a user account on our Site to provide a username and email address–and that’s it. • Transaction and Billing Information: The Chef Louis Nel Site does not process payment transactions, nor collect billing information.

Information We Collect Automatically

We also collect some information automatically:

• Log Information: Like most online service providers, we collect information that web browsers, mobile devices, and servers typically make available, such as the browser type, IP address, unique device identifiers, language preference, referring site, the date and time of access, operating system, and mobile network information. We collect log information when you use our Site.
• Usage Information: We collect information about your usage of our Site. For example, we collect information about the actions that site administrators and users perform on our Site–in other words, who did what, when and to what thing on the site (e.g., [username] deleted “[title of post]” at [time/date]). Information We Collect from Other Sources

We may also get information about you from other sources. For example, if you register your user account on our Site through a social media platform (like Facebook or Twitter) or if you comment on our Site using Facebook, we will receive information from that service (such as your username, email address and basic profile information) via the authorization procedures used by that service. The information we receive depends on which services you use and any options that are available.

We use information about you as mentioned above and for the purposes listed below:

5. How Long We Retain Your Data

We generally discard information about you when we no longer need the information for the purposes for which we collect and use it – which are described in the section above on How and Why We Use Information – and we are not legally required to continue to keep it. For example, we keep the web server logs that record information about a visitor to our Site, such as the visitor’s IP address, browser type, and operating system, for approximately 30 days. We retain the logs for this period of time in order to, among other things, analyse traffic to our Site and investigate issues if something goes wrong on our Site.

We retain the personal data you give us as part of your user account on our Site for as long as you have an account with us. If you delete your user account, then your personal data will immediately be deleted and the remaining information made anonymous. We might then use it to help us improve our services.

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

6. How We Store and Protect Your Data

Chef Louis Nel takes measures to help protect information about you from unauthorized access, use, alteration, or destruction and disclosure. For example, we use HTTPS while information is being transmitted. We also enforce administrative access controls to limit which of our employees have access to non-public personal information on our Site.

Chef Louis Nel may contract with a variety of third-party providers from time to time, to provide for our hosting, authentication, storage and telecommunication needs, etc., including without limitation storage of our users personally identifiable information. Chef Louis Nel shall not be responsible or liable, and hereby disclaims all responsibility and liability, for culpable (including without limitation negligent) acts or omissions by its third-party suppliers.

Since there is no perfect secure method of protecting information during its storage, processing and transfer into electronic form, Chef Louis Nel does not give the full warranty of its complete safety, despite all efforts made by Chef Louis Nel. • Set Your Browser to Reject Cookies: At this time, Chef Louis Nel does not respond to “do not track” signals across all of our Site. However, you can usually choose to set your browser to remove or reject browser cookies before using Chef Louis Nel’s Site, with the drawback that certain features of Chef Louis Nel’s Site may not function properly without the aid of cookies.
• Close Your Account: While we’d be very sad to see you go, if you no longer want to use our Site, you can close your user account. 8.1 Third Party Links – Our Site may contain links to third party websites, services and functions that may use and conform to different privacy rules from those stated here. Chef Louis Nel is not responsible for the privacy policy of such resources.

8.2 Social Media Features – Our Site includes social media features – for example, Facebook comments or social media share widgets. These features are hosted by third parties that may set cookies on your device to enable the feature to function properly and to track your interaction with the feature. Your interactions with these features are governed by the privacy policy of the third party providing feature.

8.3 Embedded Content from Third Party Websites – Our Site may use embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from third party websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

9. Adverts and Analytics Services Provided By Others

Adverts appearing on our Site may be delivered by advertising networks. These ad networks and analytics providers may set tracking technologies (like cookies) to collect information about your use of our Site. These technologies allow these third parties to recognize your device to compile information about you or others who use your device. 10. reCAPTCHA v3

We have implemented reCAPTCHA v3 on our Site. The use of reCAPTCHA v3 is subject to the Google Privacy Policy and Terms of Use. reCAPTCHA may only be used to fight spam and abuse on the site. reCAPTCHA API works by collecting hardware and software information, such as device and application data, and s2ending this data to Google for analysis. By using the Chef Louis Nel Website you consent to the collection and sharing of this data with Google.

11. Privacy Policy Changes

Although most changes are likely to be minor, Chef Louis Nel may change its Privacy Policy from time to time. Chef Louis Nel encourages visitors to frequently check this page for any changes to its Privacy Policy. This Privacy Policy will be governed by and construed and interpreted in accordance with the laws of South Africa. To the extent that a court has jurisdiction over any dispute which may arise out of or in connection with this Privacy Policy, we both submit to the jurisdiction of the South African courts. Chef Louis Nel shall not be liable for costs incurred by users to obtain professional advice with regard to the legality of this Privacy Policy.
